Spalted Maple Hollow Form

This was a spalted day I guess.

Here is a piece of wood we (Jim ) cut up at the BBQ and it is already spalted, sure surprised me when I cut into it.

The pictures do not do the wood justice, this piece has spalting and curl going every direction.

It is 9" x 6" and the collar is some ebonized oak since I didn't have a piece of ebony big enough. Only problem is that the piece turned gray instead of black. It looked nice so I left it that way. Finished with watco and buffed.
