NICE MARK!!! Ebonized walnut you say! Great contrast! Can you give me a clue of your ebonizing process? I was gonna do the same thing on the piece I'm working on from the stock you sent me. I was thinking Ritz dye mixed with DNA. Am I close?:D

That might work just fine, Kurt. I'm using some India Ink that Joe Meazle gave me. Works like a charm as far as I'm concerned. When I use this up I'll be ordering some more.

I sand the collar to the final grit, then apply a coat of ink. It doesn't take long for it to dry. Then I rub the raised grain with 0000 steel wool and apply another coat of ink. I do this a couple of times - until the color is consistent and the grain quits raising. Then just apply the finish you want. I'm having good luck using Deft Satin.

I know there are other "processes" for ebonizing, but the ink seems very easy to me and I'm gonna stick with it until somebody shows me something easier...:D

Pretty work, Mark. I think the dye method is more effective on some woods than the rusty vinegar water method. And I bet you get a truer black that way as well. Nicely done!
