That is absolutely stunning, Horst! :) Hope you don't mind if I stash that form idea away for one of my own one of these days! :o

Very nice Horst, I have not turned any Padauk that size but I have used some for small poporie bowls and I'm sure the Picture does not do it justice

Bravo on all counts, Horst. Excellent job. I've turned a little weed pot out of padauk, and the grain has beautiful depth when turned. I'm sure your bowl looks awesome in person.

Hello,
Thanks a lot for all the kind comments, especially those in German!
@George: all in all padouk is quite good to work. I find it slightly brittle, but that's not really a problem. Sometimes hidden cracks show up during turning.
It has to be treated with UV protection to keep the colour. Otherwise it will turn to a dark brown very quickly. It gives off a very pleasant smell when freshly cut, but unfortunately this wears off very quickly.

Thanks for responding, Horst. I think I'll go over to Woodcraft and pick up a piece and give it a try. When mine is done, it will be of no comparison to your's. You do some fine work, my friend.

Okay... Do the rest of you guys find yourselves reading Hosrt's comments, with a German accent or is it just me:confused: :D ;)
