I picked up 5 pieces of this maple burl yesterday since Mickey really liked it, in fact she even carried it to the car for me.:eek: Along with two pieces of Elm Burl.

I'm not sure if I like the collar on it now that it is there, but it's too late now.

Very nice work, Dick. I sympathise concerning the collar---perhaps you could do some sort of embellishment on it?

That is some REALLY NICE wood (I like the collar). I'm guessing they only had 5 pieces left when you went back in??

Really nice piece of wood and a good job of turning. Love the form, but not sure I like the collar either. Too similar in color to the main piece.

Nice job Dick. I like the form and the wood is terrific too. As for the collar, I don't think it looks bad at all but if it was a darker color or maybe even black, I think it would look better. Maybe try some dye or possibly paint?

Well "Mr. Turning Machine", you definately have a winner. Great form, great wood and great finish. :) :) Maybe try some burning on the collar? Heck, why don't you just send it to me and I'll study it for awhile (like 10 years) then I'll send it back with any ideas I come up with:D :D
