I am part of the Gouge Chip Carving group in Springfield, MO. Our carving technique works ok on basswood, but would rather use a harder wood such as maple. Does anyone know a place or person we can get a good price for plates? There are several basswood suppliers for say chip carvers... need something similar but in maple.
Thanks... post or PM me.

Hey Sean, welcome to the creek. What size plate do you need ? I am sure there are a lot of creekers in your area who can help you out or maybe you just need to get a lathe yourself..:D

Sean,
I have a bunch of leftover maple from a project last year that could use a good home.
Mostly 5-6" wide, clean board, slightly yellow.
I have a lathe and bandsaw. We can make some plates, it would be a good time.
Let me know, Cal
