View Full Version : Wall mounting a DC - how much vibration.

I just ordered a Griz cyclone DC and am now debating how to set it up.
If I use the optional stand it will fit but make fitting my car in very tight since the stand adds almost 1 foot to the depth of the unit.
My question is how badly the unit will cause the wall to vibrate if I mount on the wall.
My concern is that the wall I will mount this on is my kitchen on the other side of the wall and I don't want to cause problems inside the house.
Thanks in advance.
Jeff

I have a similar cyclone mounted to the wall. It doesn't vibrate much at speed but there is a resonance region on startup or shutdown that it vibrates more for a few seconds. You could use rubber mounts for it to reduce vibration if it becomes a problem- i.e. thick rubber washers.

McMaster-Carr has a real thorough listing of dampers. If you search their site for "vibration damping mounts" it should take you right there. Can't get a url that will take you directly to the right page in their catalog. Pay attention to the info on their site on shear loads vs compression loads depending on how you plan to mount the dampers. Wierdly enough, I don't have my cyclone DC yet, but I've already got the mounts for it. They don't cost much so it seemed like a good idea.

I have a PSI cyclone mounted on the wall and it is very smooth start to stop!
