I'm trying to change the jointer knifes on my 6" sunhill jointer, what a pain! Anyone out there have a sunhill? There is this tool? that I am guessing is for setting the height of the knifes. There is nothing in the instruction book about this tool(or piece of junk as I am calling it) . I can use any helpful hints anyone has.

Thanks Brian

Brian, DeWalt makes a setting guage for their planer - if you can borrow one, maybe it can be adapted.

It must be a spring loaded head, like what planers use.

gib screw heads are easier to set the height, that's whay my jointer uses, not too bad.

I bought one of those magnetic knife setting jigs for my planer that is spring loaded, and it make one heck of a difference in how easy it is to set the knives.

My recommendation would be to buy the jointer set. The only other way is by trial and error, and that would stink.
