At the 2005 ParrBQ Jim Ketron brought me a nice cedar bowl turning blank. I took it and the rest of the green blanks that the other fellers gave me and rough turned them, soaked them in alcohol and wrapped 'em in paper.

Then as they had dried long enough and as I had time I finish turned one bowl after another. Somewhere along the way Jim's blank was set aside and then put away and lost in a wood bin I have. I forgot that I put it away and happened across it this week. Well, after a year it is quite dry. It turned very well considering.

Jimbo, sorry for the delay and thanks again for the wood. It is a beautiful piece of cedar and my wife has already laid claim to the bowl which finished up at 11" in diameter and 3" tall.

This is a beautiful piece of Cedar. I love the color and grain in Cedar, but hate to turn it. After I smell it for about 10-15 minutes I've had enough to last me 6 months.

I love the rim you put on this one, too! Great work, Thigh Mast.... er, I mean Box Master...:D

Thanks guys, I appreciate the feedback.

Ken, no hollowforms in my future. In case you have forgotten I don't do hollowforms....;)

Ben, yes, this is the color of this cedar. Sometimes it is deep red almost purple, other times it is pink and occasionally it is almost fiery red. Why I don't know...

That must have been one huge cedar to get almost all eleven inches in the red. Nice job!:)

Gorgeous, Big Mike. Not much else to add that the others haven't already said, but it's no wonder LOYL latched onto it.

I also really like how you flattened out the hollow form to disguise it as a shallow bowl. :p

Thank guys.

Vaughn that is how most of my hollow form attempts end up- looking like bowls or funnels....:D
