The Gazabo project continues to unfold.

We've selected a set of plans and now have material estimates from a few suppliers.

What I'm curious about is the type of screws to use w/ cedar. Is there something I should know?

Thanks
Joe

Stainless. I bought stainless screws for my porch at Home Depot for about $9.50 a box. Same screws same brand same bar code at Lowes when I needed more were abot $3.75. Keep your eye out. I don't know why the price difference but it was there.

I would suggest SS screws but, would recommend checking with McFeely's. They make some flat head SS deck screws that are the best I have ever seen.

I built some outdoor furiture years ago. Mostly out of cedar, I bought all my fasteners from Mcfeely's. As a side note the reason for using stainless is it won't bleed (leaving black streaks) like galvanized screws will. Galvanized metal reacts with the oils in the cedar.
