I got my PC 7518 from UPS yesterday (Boy is it heavy!) and the box seemed kinda sparse on included stuff. Just the Router, no plastic bag or anything around it, cord had a tie on it, and a bag with the manual and wrenches.

Should anything else be included?

Also, I was bummed to find out that the router DOESN'T come with a 1/4" collet. I just want to double check; Is this the right collet for the 7518?

Thanks very much.

I think that is it.
The 1/4" collet is an accessory, sorry. It is a nice router-enjoy it.

The first review on the Amazon 7518 page says it comes with a 1/4" and 1/2" collet

Toss your 1/4" collets and never use 1/4" shank router bits.

Okay, just kidding, some very small radiused roundover bits only come in 1/4" shank but I don't like to use the heavy gun for those pea shooters. ;)

I also recently bought a 7518 and was a bit confused from Amazon's site as to whether the 1/4" collet also came with it. So I checked on PC's website and it found out that you had to buy it extra. I ordered the same 1/4" collet that you bookmarked when I bought the router.

Mark, I'm sure you checked carefully, but I'll tell this tale anyway.

When I bought my PC 890 router, I couldn't find the 1/4 inch collet. I looked all over, in the box, with the accessories, everywhere I could think of but no 1/4 inch collet. I sent an e-mail to PC and they were very nice, apologized for it missing and promised to send me a replacement immediately.

For some reason, I went out to the shop shortly after that and looked at the router again. There was the 1/4 inch collet attached to the router with a plastic tie.

So then, I had to go back in with my tail between my legs and e-mail PC with the info that I really had the collet. They were very nice, but it was embarrassing.

I've gradually gone to almost all 1/2" shank bits.

So I also have a surplus of 1/4" collets.

Mark, no baby collet, no case, just POWER!

My new Milw 5625 also came "bare bones" not w 2 plates and 2 collets as the earlier reviews as said. I find that some of the dovetails jigs will only handle a 1/4 inch bit even tho I have all 1/2".. Oh well,,Progress..I feel your pain (B.Clinton):D :)

Mark, I received mine from Amazon in exactly the same condition as yours. As others have confirmed, 1/4" collet is an accessory sold seperately.

So to answer your questions...no, yes. In that order.

Thanks all.

Okay, I think the concensus is that:

1) It doesn't come "stock" with the baby collet (;) Chris) and

2) The collet that I referenced is, in fact, the correct one for the 7518.

Is that right?

Tod,
thank you very much for your offer of the collet but I had already ordered it and it has shipped. I'm an Amazon prime member so I get 2-day shipping free. I just needed confirmation that I ordered the right one.

I've got some "Good" 1/4" shank bits (some crappy ones too) so I'd like to be able to use them, at least until they wear out or break. However, My handheld router only takes 1/4".

But, you'll be glad to note, that I am buying, when needed, 1/2" bits now. I just bought a 1/2" shank dovetail bit and a straight bit for a joinery class that I'm taking tomorrow. My Freud that's in my table now has both collets but the PC will be going into the table soon.

Now for a new table, lift, and fence system.

Want to help spend my money?

Thanks to all for you help.

For the lift I would recomend the Jessem MastRLift. It is designed for the PC 7518 and works great. I have one for my 7518 and am very pleased with it. This lift allows you to change bits from above the table top.

Here's a link to it.

Shoot, Mark, I specialize in spending other folk's money! :D

Go drool over the router table kits Woodpeckers has put together...good stuff...I have one myself. :)

Seems that sometimes Amazon serves as a clearing house for some vendors, you know, the stuff they want to get rid of. Limited quanities and often new, but not in original packing. How much is the difference between current retail and sale price? Is it more than additional collet? This is still one of the best prices I have seen on this router.
