Finally stepped up to a "real" pen kit, CS USA cigar in Black titanium. Wood is cross cut olive, finished with lacquer, then waxed.

Sweet smelling wood, great kit (you called it Corey).

Thanks for looking!

Nice job Barry! That black ti looks real sweet! Can't beat it! I have some olivewood to try. No problems with the lacquer I take it. I hear sometimes the olivewood is so oily that finishes are tough to get without clouding up. The finish is top notch!

Nice Cigar Barry, I carry a pen that LOML made for me out of Olive wood but not xcut, had a tuff time getting a finish to stick but it is smooth as a baby's bottom.

Looks very nice, Barry. What's that it's resting on?

Thanks for the kind words! I use mineral spirits between grits, and then give the blanks a final rub down before finishing. Seems to work on the oily woods.

And Henry - it is resting on a Panache pen out of redheart.

My first cigar was a Te Amo robusto. Now I tend more towards Partagas, CAO and Indian Tabac :D Nice pen, by the way!

Turned real easy in my limited experience. Being end grain, I kept the gouge and skew sharp and took my time to avoid flying chunks at bad moments:D Good thing the blank was thick!

Thanks again.
