Grizzly offers two models of planer/moulder and regular planer that I have my eye on.

What are the advantages and dissadvantages between a planer/moulder and just a planer with the same capacity and motor hp?

(edited my mistake, sorry)

Surely someone has an opinion on this?

I've got the Jet planer/moulder. I don't think that a lot of people are interested in moulders. Check out the price of molding knives. My experience has been $125-$300+ depending on width and depth of the profile. It is a pain to get setup for the run so you are not going to be doing this for just a foot of molding. LOML is an artist so we have a large need for frames. For us it is about to pay for itself in frames and we've only been using the moulder function for less than a year.

I would assume that the planer/molders are more expensive. If they are truely the same machine and same price I don't know why you wouldn't get the planer/molder. I'm not aware of any consequential differences between a planer and a p/m if the specs are the same.
