Request for Info Has Become a New Toy

Recently I posted for advise about a Delta Lathe which I decided to buy last weekend....

The price included a self centering chuck (or what ever they're called....), a large set of turning tools, a pen sized set of turning tools, and a batch of pen blanks...

As soon as it was home I headed out to get a 2x2, cut it into 4 sections, and started to turn them into spindles.. it was great fun. Now I need to find something practical to make with it and find someone to give me a few lessons.

I did quickly learn the benefits of finesse when using the tools. Just as with anything else... remove a little at a time.

I'd post a pic, but I can't seem to reduce it's size from 800+K to something that can be posted here...

Joe welcome to the vortex. You might try posting in the turning forum. Also look and see if there are any turning clubs in your area for some tutoring. In terms of pisture sizing here is a post that will help you get er done.

Joe - there's a freeware program called Pixresizer that does a good job of reducing digital pictures. Other people might be able to suggest other options.

BTW, did you work for Paradyne in Largo at one time?

Where did you find it? I couldn't bring up on download.com or tucows.

If you're running Windows XP, I can recommend the Image Resizer from microsoft. I've been using it for a long time now. just right click any image and select resize. Can go small, medium, large, or handheld pc sizes. Great way to get an image from 800k to say 38k in a hurry!

When I purch this lathe, the seller said bed extensions were avail. I checked amazon and the delta web site and couldn't find anything.

Any know if bed extensions are available?
