I was playing around with my new Incra LS Positoiner for my router. I remember someone saying how nice it was to have one of those fancy digital router lifts to set up the bits. So this is what I came up with (see photo). Mounting has yet to be engineered but it works great!

A Starrett caliper is low budget? But, seriously; great idea. If you can affix the head piece to the underside of the table it would register up and down. Cool!

Get one of Barry Wixey's Planer readouts. That would be real easy to hook up.

Thats what I thought also!

Harbor Freight has those on sale for $15.99 as we speak.

O.K. I will replace the Sterrett with HF. It's hard to see but it is held to the top with a washer/nut to one of the router plate mounting bolts.

I'd definitely trade the Starrett for a HF. The vibration can't be good for it long term. Plus you won't be afraid to drill and cut on the HF one to make the mounting work. I took my Dremel to one for my planer and cut off several parts to make it fit better.

I like that (simple) solution Pat for the given applications.

But Pat, how do you cut .248? Mash down a bit? :D I have your solution, I just want the in between stuff too. ;) You fence works very well too! Thanks for the plans for that, btw.
