5 piths (4 solid, 1 w/ just a hairline crack)... ~6" tall and ~7" wide... sanded thru 600 and buffed gel poly finish... bark is CA'd... honest opinions/feedback appreciated.

This wood is from a storm-damaged tree that I was able to harvest (aka Free :) )

Oh yea, that's a nice one Mark. You have a real sense for finding form in a piece of wood where I would never guess to look.

Mark.........I really like that HF! I can't wait until I get the tools and then the RIGHT piece of wood to do a HF! You really pulled the maximum beauty and use of the natural highlights of that piece of wood with that form!

Mark, could you please tell me why the Venus de Milo (or however the heck you spell that) comes to mind when I look at that last picture? :)

Great work!

Mark that is one fine looking piece!
Love the form of this piece, the rim fits in wonderfuly just the right size opening and the right hight of the rim. Nice flowing curves throughout!
Awesome Job!

Man oh man, that's a nice piece Mark. It amazes me what you (and the other Hollow Form Kings here on SMC) can do with a piece of wood.

PM3520A, using Scorpion boring bars in a D-handle that Travis Stinson built for me, riding on a tool rest that Jim Ketron (and Joe T and Dick P) built for me, and I use a backrest that I built using Dennis P's backrest as a pattern (slightly modified). I also have a laser rigged up on the D-handle.

How's that for a commercial? :D
