It's been a while since I posted my turnings, but I have been turning less, since I spend lots of time outside doing photography, but I am working on finishing about 10 NIP bowls right now. some need some laquer, some need to be buffed, some need hand sanding and polishing and some even soak in my oil barrel and are weeks away from finishing.
this batch will have soaked almost 500 hours in oil each, roughly 20 submersions in my oil barrell for 24 hours each.
The first one of the lot is done, just got it off the buffing wheels. From start to finish, this took about 5 weeks to finish. turning takes me about 2 or 3 hours, the rest is soaking and hand sanding between submersion. I turned them a little different this time, leaving a bit more thickness around the rim so they won't break when you pick them up wrong, but wll thickness is about 3/16th at the most, rim about 1/4.
here we go, on the left a few that are drying, 2 or 3 are ready to be hand sanded to 6000 grit and then buffed
