That is really nice Chris. I have only started open segmented work and so I know what you had to go through to make that. It is just beautiful and I love that combination of woods.

Wonderful Job:)

The photo with the light on really makes it look nice! How much time did you have in the glue-up?

here is a few things about the lamp

the finial is comprised of maple with the walnut plugs in it as well

the shade is only my 2nd attempt ever at doing an open segment piece

( the first was done following along with the instructions from a book)

the shade actually broke off while turning ( it broke at the 2nd ring down )

i was able to salvage everything ( it took me 20 minutes to find the missing 2 blocks )

i can't even tell where the break was located at

WAIT...WAIT...WAIT.....

I ws going to make some silly remark about two different lamps and that I liked one better than the other and other silly stuff. I usually just kinda glaze over terms you folks use, like open-segment and such, cause I'm a turning idiot (among other things).

BUT!!!!!.........then I read that the lampshade is actually TURNED???????

HOLY FRIMFRACKING #$%$#@%^&*&^$%%% PACHEEBIES!!!!!!!!

And the rest of you folks just go on like it's nothing (cause you know all about it). MAN O MAN......that kind of talent and creativity is so far beyond me it would take me two lifetimes just to get my head around it.

WTG Chris. Hope you win.

That's wonderful, Chris! I think you have a real contender there! :) One of these days.... Heck, the only segmented pieces I've ever done were those which ended up in "segments" after starting out solid! :o
