I just started turning and here are some chisel handles I made. I plan to add some thick leather bands to them.

Great job. I did some a few years ago and used metal instead of leather for the ferrules. Anything to reduce the splitting of the handles under heavy use.

Those look great, are the Ash?
You could also go with steel hoops, like the Japanese chisels, I have those and they do take a pounding.

Thanks everyone. I don't know what the wood is. It was a broken shovel handle that I saved so it could be hicory.
