View Full Version : "Sandstone" Bowl

Spotted an interesting chunk of 8/4 poplar at the lumber store a couple weeks back...at $1.75/bf there wasn't any reason not to take it home. Nothing special shape-wise, but the grain is just wild: looks like the set of sandstone coasters I have in my living room, so this guy may end up on my coffee table. 9"x1-1/4"

That's a real looker, Lee. You did good in picking that piece of lumber out for the project. Very nice!

One thing missing from the definitions posted recently was, how deep does a "platter" have to be before it becomes a "bowl" (or vice versa)? Or does it have something to do with the shape of the rim, the flatness of the inside bottom, or the size of the foot? :p

Bowl or platter, it is looking great, I think it will make a nice accompanying piece for those coasters. Looks like it will hold just the right amount of finger sandwitches for snacking.
