A while back, I posted some concept drawings of some tabletop lamps for a bedroom with an art deco look. The woodworking portion is now done, and I will begin work on the plexiglass shade as shown in the last pic below. I must admit, I do not like working with acrylic.

The lamp's simple design required a lot of jigs to fabricate the parts and assemble them. Three lamps are being made which will help justify the time spent on making these jigs. The wood is poplar and the finish is 'hammerite'.

Thanks for checking it out!

You've done a great job - those jigs sure paid off.

But I've got a question - why hammerite?

Thanks for sharing your photos.

Excellent and the finish gives it a classic art decco look. Nice job!

Howard,
As Corey mentioned above, the hammerite finish is suppose to suggest that the parts are made from metal and not wood. I think that if I had kept the wood natural (assuming that a figured wood would have been used instead of poplar), it would have conflicted with the lamp's design. Also, the bedroom that the lamps will go into has art deco furniture and no natural wood.

Outstanding work , Jeff. It's really kewel to see something move from concept to reality!
