Need recommendation on type of paint

to use on an exterior steel door. This will be the first time that I have painted this door since in was new (about 11 years ago). The door is currently an almond color, but I don't know the type of paint. It has a southern exposure and the sun has done some damage to the paint. It is very rough near the bottom of the door that does not get any shade.

Ralph, if you can get a temporary door, take yours and have it painted just like a car. Finish the color coat up with a clear coat and you'll have a door that should last many years. I'm going to be doing that with my side entry garage door in the very near future.

Preparation is the key...lightly sand the surface to remove any roughness/rust/debris...and then prime it. (That self-etching primer that Steve ash recommended for my tractor implement restoration was wonderful stuff) Then, paint the door with an appropriate high-quality exterior paint.
