I'm just a woodturner but I would like to start carving some things, long handled spoons and ladles for starters. Can anyone tell me if there are some good plans or drawings available for making a Shaving Horse. And can anyone make any recommendations on a quality draw knife and spoke shave. Thanks!

Curt, I drew this one a year or so ago from plans I found someplace. I could send you the SketchUp model if you want to use it.

There are some good shaving horse plans. If you subscribe to FWW's online service, Boggs has one (I'm currently working on one from those plans, which I posted pics of yesterday). There's also pics of my progress (not much, yet) in my flickr photostream (http://flickr.com/photos/muhe-e/sets/72157594183715359/).

John Alexander has one on his site too. (http://www.greenwoodworking.com/shorse.htm)

I'd also recommend Boggs's spokeshave video, and John's make a chair from a tree video.

Thanks Dave and Deirdre! Those are exactly what I had in mind.

I´ve been looking at building a saw horse and have concluded that the Boggs design would work best for me. It has a unique ability to adjust height according to work object thickness. There is also a video floating around in which Boggs is using it from the Woodworking Channel.

I believe that video clip floating around is an excerpt from the LN video.
