I am thinking about bying a woodworking lathe from Harbor Freight for $269.00. I am also thinking of bying a Jet lathe for around $400.00.
Any imput on either of these lathes ? Pros/cons. I make wild turkey calls and most take a four inch pot, but if I get the nerve I may try a bowl or two. Thanks ...Clyde

Clyde,

If your main goal right now is for turning calls and maybe a bowl, You might want to consider the Jet Mini from GIS. Its on sale right now for 189 or 289 (I think) for the variable speed mode. It would be a nice compromise and give you a high quality machine. You can go here to see more info http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?threadid=3836&highlight=general+industrial+supply

PS Where in PA are you?
