Shallow NE... bottom ended up kinda flat since the heart wood in this log was very colorful, but so punky it couldn't be salvaged. This bowl is for my daughter who is gifting it to her husband's aunt this weekend.

A little over 11" wide, 3-1/2" tall, 3/8" walls... sanded thru 600, buffed gel poly finish.

This is beautiful. So is the walnut bowl. I must point out the obvious, they are not boxes. They do not resemble boxes.... ;)

If you persist in this bowl turning, natural edge turning and etc. you will not be turning boxes....:p :D

I thought we had an agreement.....:o

How did you do the bottom?

The bottom is just slightly concaved - nothing special. I used a vacuum chuck to reverse and finish the bottom.

Very nice NE Mark....excellent choice of wood.
As a minor note on the form of this NE?
Looks like the sides (wings) get fairly straight on the outside curve of the bowl causing a loss of a continued flow of a nice gentle curve from the bottom to the top. Maybe I'm being nit-picky, but I believe it would improve the overall form if the curve had more of a flow to it.

This is really nice sharp and crisp bowl and the finish looks great Mark. I like it just the way it is. It has plenty of flow and shape to it. I think the low profile adds to this piece!

That's a beauty Mark! My first thought was that it looked sort of like a potato chip. Would make a good potato chip bowl too.

Mark, as usual your NE forms seem to be so smooth. They really flow. Nice job.
