I want to install 20 gauge stainless as a backsplash around my stove. It will go over 3/4" plywood. How should I apply it keeping in mind any potential exp. and contraction issues from the heat of the stove. Thanks Peter

Most stove manufactures will give a distance to combustibles, also probably a code that states minimum distance.
Might want to check with either, but I'd check code first.

Problem you have is the sheet of stainless and what that does to the minimum distances to combustibles.
Your city inspections dept should be able to help or contact the stove manuf on this

My stainless back splash (from Broan) is mounted directly on the drywall behind our range using screws into anchors. (48" DCS with a grill) The upper half is designed with a small air-space behind it as well as to better accommodate the mounting of the flip down wire shelves that get used when the range hood's heat lamps are in play.
