I know I said I wasn't going to do any more of these (at least for awhile), but I found a blank I'd already prepped buried down in the bottom of the bin. Walnut, about 4-1/2"x1-3/4".

Lee, that's a fantastic bowl! Please don't stop! (unless you are tired of making them) I could look at your bowls everyday - I think they are great - and getting better!

What is the finish you are using? Just my usual: coat of Seal-A-Cell, buff, and wax.

Great looking bowls. Never get tired of looking at them. Post all you want.
I'm assuming the only way to do the bottom is with a vacuum pump?

Great looking bowls. Never get tired of looking at them. Post all you want.Thanks. It's not the posting that's tiresome, it's all the hand-sanding: for me, a normal bowl is about 80:20 ratio between turning time and sanding time. These are more like 40:60, and all the sanding has to be done by hand, mostly off-lathe. The buffing step can get a bit interesting as well.
I'm assuming the only way to do the bottom is with a vacuum pump?Nope. Piece of 2" PVC pipe and a pad, with the tailstock supporting for most of it. Once it's running true, I add a couple pieces of duct tape, keeps it on well enough to do the last little nub at the end. Wouldn't want to try that with a big salad bowl, but this thing only weighs a couple ounces.

Thanks. I'll give that a try. I have the durndest time getting stuff to run true again.
