Well, been having some fun resawing a small portion of my figured hard maple. I figured I would practice on a few "lesser" pieces before I really dig into it. To my surprise, I come across a few interesting cuts. Here is a sample, which I got 3 boards. Almost all of my hard maple is 2 3/8" thick, which was the driving force to get a MM16. The hardest part is deciding what to use it on! Boards in pic are not sanded yet, just wetted down a little to show the figure.

If it all turned out like that it would be fun if you had to use a bread knife.

Its a amazing (and sometimes even scary) what can come from bookmatching some wild grained timber. I especially like the two eyes and horns which appear at the bottom of both panels.

A pair of tall slender doors for a Krenov styled cabinet could just fit the bill. It must be a nice feeling knowing that you've got the capability to discover unique pieces such as this with the access to good materials and machinery.

Well done ;) ;) ;)

I cannot wait to get into my stacks and see what lurks! As far as the "eyes" at the bottom, I can also see 2 whales emerging from the water:rolleyes: . It is fun to show that kind of stuff to different people and see what they see.

Who knows, you might find "something" that you can sell for $15K ~ $20K on e.bay...!!! LOL

Very pretty wood. Any action pics of the resawing?

I purchased the "show" model from Laguna. Will pick up in Atlanta Aug 27. Free Shipping and free Resaw King blade, plus some discount. :)

So I am really looking forward to some resawing for boxes.

4.5 hp motor. Looking foward to seeing what I can do with band saw instead of table saw.

Nice figure Jeff.

Being able to resaw for bookmatching opens up whole new realm of wood working.

Don't go too crazy with the resawing though. You gotta build something with it eventually. ;)

Gosh, Per, I first thought that too, but then on the second piece, I thought it was one of those Diet Ads with a lady wearing a Fox Faced Bikini and an ornamental belt with a Big Ruby Belly Button nugget.:D (I've just gotta get my Cyclone built, 'cause smellin' all that sawdust is makin' me see weird things)

This is the Cherry I mentioned earlier and is my first attempt at resaw/book end.
