Delta 50-761 2HP Single Stage Dust Collector

Does anyone know about this machine. Any recommendations in the same or lower price range (I can't go any higher than $550 which is what this machine runs). I am a hobbiest, spend 2-4 hours per week in the shop. I wear a mask to protect against fine dust. Run a table saw, router table, jointer.

Thanks for any advice

I have a single cannister 1 1/2 horse dust collector that was under $300. I run a Table Saw, jointer, Planer, Band Saw, router table and a couple of other things off of it. Normally you are using one tool at a time and mine seems to do the job for me. With the limited time you get in the Shop, something smaller might work best. But! Having said that if you plan on full time wood working in the future, the large collector might be best.

We have several of the Deltas in our school. Unit works great. No service issues. Good quality machine.

The July monthly ad sheet from Woodcraft has 3 Delta's on sale? with a $50 rebate. The models are the 1.5 horse 50-750 and 50-850 (canister and bag) models. The prices look similar to what I looked at a few months ago so not usre how much of sale. I am considering the cannister model.

John...did you get the Woodcraft July flyer in the mail, or is this something you saw on the web? I received the June flyer a few weeks ago but haven't seen anything for July yet. I am considering the 50-760 and was hoping this was included in the sale.

Is the rebate from Woodcraft or Delta?

Thanks!
Matt

Another vote for the HF 2HP unit. I got mine for $128 after tax and it sucks the chips from all my machines without issue. I often keep two blast gates open and run it to two machines at once and it does nicely.

Russell, I spent $500 and got a 3HP unit, virtually identical to THIS (http://www.grizzly.com/products/G1030) one. If I had it all to do again, I would go with a cyclone dust collector instead. The cyclones are more expensive, but seem to be all-around better machines, judging from what people say who use them. My suggestion is that you at least investigate cyclone units before committing to a specific unit.

You can build one that will do a great job with filtration to any micron size you care to have. I'll bet it'll cost you less than the Delta.

Google around there are lots of people with plenty of info in the web.
