Here's a salad bowl from Hickory given to me by a friend from his lot. I can't believe how heavy this wood is, the roughout was 9 pounds 110z.! Even finished, it's pretty heavy, being 13 x5x almost 3/4" thick. I gave it a coat of walnut oil and plan to give it to my friend at work tomorrow. Thanks for looking. Ed

Ed, that contrast dark and light color in the wood looks great. Hickory will stand the test of time as this classic form you have chosen.

Thanks for the positive comments. Unfortunately my friend didn't work today and I'm going away for 2 weeks so I won't be handing it to him directly. But I'm sure he'll like it.

That's a real nice bowl Ed. My uncle gave me a hickory tree if and when I want to take it down, but I've never turned it and don't know if I want that much.
