Another Yates Lathe question - sorry, I am a noobe at this lathe business. :)

Anyway, can anyone lend any insight as to what the model number of this lathe might be?

41208

41209

41210

41211

The other one I was looking at on our (least) favorite auction site got scooped up via a buy-it-now. I am now looking at this one which is another local seller.

Also, any estimates of it's worth would be helpful as well.

Thanks in advance for your time . . .

Larry

Check out Old Woodworking Machinery's website:

Most of Yates stuff should be here:

And here would be all the pix of Yates stuff in the OWWM database:

I haven't seen that one. Closest thing on OWWM is model 10 but it's not quite right. I would say this is heavier built lathe than the other one you were looking at. Again, depending on what you want to do with it I would think this would make a better bowl lathe. Looks heavy and thats a good thing!

Thanks for the replies. I looked a bit on OWWM before posting and could not find any pics that matched. I am looking at it on Thursday night, I hope it works out.

Jeff, my needs at this point are very minimal as I am just getting started but I expect that the bug will bite (hence my resistance to this point). :)

It's cheaper to buy once than buy less and then upgrade. And if you pay a fair(reasonable) price you can get your money back if you don't like it.

Someone else on another list is looking at it. You better not wait to long if you think you want it. ;)

Jeff - thanks for the info and head's up. I just shot the guy an email asking that he let me see it before he sells it. I believe I was first to inquire as I happend to see the ad about two hours after it was posted on Sunday morning an replied immediately. But, if another guy managed to inquire first then he deserves first crack at it - we will see.

It seems that this lathe is being discussed on another board, if one of you two don't hurry up I'll be taking the trailer down there!!!;) :D

Lost this one. :( Guy took a higher offer (122% of price he listed on Craigslist).
