Hello Everyone,
I was given a shaper last week by a customer of mine. It is an older, smaller one, and there are no markings on it. It's painted grey, but when I looked underneath I saw what looked like "grizzly green".... I looked in my catalog and it looks almost exactly like the g1050z, right down to the belt guard underneath. I guess whatever brand it is, that's irrelevant. ANYWAY...
It has a 1/2" spindle and I was excited about getting matched stile and rail bits & a panel raiser for 3/4" door making. When I went to the grizz and MLCS catalogs I saw that all of these bits were 3/4" bore.
My questions are:
1. Does anyone make a stile / rail bit set for a 1/2" spindle.
2. The machine needs belt and a new spindle as the threads are pretty abused. Should I invest in cleaning this thing up when what I want it for is primarily door making? Or should I save my money and get something with a 3/4" spindle?
I have a big bosch router in a table that I use for making raised panel doors now.
Thanks for any replies,
Rick
