I finally completed the media center for my oldest son and his girlfriend. It seems like I had been working on it forever. This is the 1st real piece of furniture that I have made. Comments welcome;)

I'm sure your son will be proud to have it. It's nice to see someone starting out with a challenging first project. Keep up the good work and remember the more you do it the faster and easier it becomes. Looking forward to seeing your next project.
Regards
Randy

My next main project will be a mission style coffee table, but I am also looking to start on xmas 2006 presents for my husbands employees (20?). Last years presents took me up till the night before they were scheduled to be delivered. Don't want to do that again.

Great job on the media center, Lori. I'm sure your son will be very pleased. What type(s) of wood did you use? Finish?

...Last years presents took me up till the night before they were scheduled to be delivered. Don't want to do that again.

I think it's an unwritten law of nature that causes that to happen. I don't know if there's any way around that law. At least not for me. ;)

No I don't have any a/c in the workshop/garage. I start working about 5am. I can go for short periods. Once 11 am arrives it is near to impossible to do anything. Yesterday afternoon garage temp must have been close to 110.
THANK YOU all for the wonderful comments. :) Your remarks are a definite encouragement to go on to the next project.

Great work Lori. What are the xmas presents going to be? If you don't know yet, what were they last year?

Great piece Lori! I think they'll really appreciate the storage capabilities - and the good looks. Good luck on the '06 Christmas presents - I know how it is with going to the last minute with presents.

Lori, a lovely piece! Look very elegant and quite functional. Great job.

If you are looking for a small holiday present, I have made lots of mirrors - simple, yet elegant and everyone can find a place for them. Also, look for the post on Mac's bookrack, another excellent gift.

p.s. you are smart to be thinking of it now!
