View Full Version : Cherry Burl Bowl

This is a 9 inch cherry burl bowl that I completed this past weekend.
The finish is lacquer (sprayed). There was a split on one side that I repaired using epoxy with sawdust mixed in. The color is close to the color of the bark and most have remarked that it looks like it is bark and does not look like a repair.

Gary, that is some absolutely beautiful wood. You've done a great job with it. Great way to hide that split, too!

Garry, that is a wild chunk of wood, for sure! Looks like you got a smooth finish on it. I haven't turned any burl yet, and I love seeing pics of it on here. Thanks!

Here's some photos of some cherry and maple I was lucky enough to purchase last winter Mark.
I have never seen a cherry burl of this quality and size before. I am still pondering how I will make use of them.

Not only is it a beautiful shape, wonderful wood and a great repair, you have taken the time to get a great finish. The finish makes the piece!
