Yesterday our San Diego County Fair started and it will run until July 4th. What does this have to do with woodturning? Well, the San Diego Woodworkers Club fills up one whole building (approx 40,000 squar feet) with fabulous things made by their club members. In one corner they allow the San Diego woodturners to set up 3 or 4 lathes to do demonstrations. We make a bunch of tops (or whatever), offer them for donations to the marine corp toys4tots program to the people walking by and in general, have fun.

So, if any of you are in the San Diego area this month and looking for something fun to do, drop on by. Myself, I will be working every tuesday (except this coming one, going to Provo) including the 4th of July.

WOW!!!! That's alot of woodworking stuff. I'd be nervous that with that many woodworkers there, it might give a cause for the tree huggers down in SO Cal. to picket. They might burn an effigy of a tablesaw or something. :D :D :D

Anyone in the area should make the trip. I loved it when I went. I like County fairs and this on has the added bonus of world class furniture present.

I live in the area and may swing by for a bit. Do you still have to pay admission if you are going to be helping to make things?

Steve, no, but you would have had to have been on the list to get the tickets and parking stickers. (maybe next year ;) ) I got all my tickets and parking stickers already, just need to put my tools together. Please stop by, we would love to meet you.

p.s. Pete Campbell is a VERY active member of our club. Always does excellent work.
