hi we are looking in to buying a vy-tek laser engraver...any recommendations on software? is "photograv" the best?

Photograv might not be the "best" , you could probably get as good or better yourself if you know what you are doing , however it is the easiest and will get you up and running virtually immediately.
Check out other laser mnfgrs as well as the one you have chosen , buy SOLEY on service , training and backup.
