Got som Oak from an elderly couple about a month ago and decided to make them a bowl to say thank you. It is 5 3/4" X 3 1/2", sanded to 400, Danish Oiled and waxed. Purposly left the pith in to get the effect. I gouged below it and used CA to seal it on both sides.

What goes around comes around, in a good way. You are very thoughtfull to return some of their wood. Just say you found this bowl in the tree.

Good Job,
Doug

Great looking bowl Chris. I like the pith in there and the lip.

Chris, we are gonna have to start calling you the Oak Master. You are doing nice work in what most people would say is less than an ideal turning wood. This is a nice looking bowl. Keep up the good work.

Very nice Chris, I have some Oak and might have to turn some after looking at this one. It is nice that you are giving the folks a bowl out of their tree. I try to do that each time. Ya never know, ya might get more.;)

Chris

Love the shape and color. How the heck can you stand the stink of Oak when turning?

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. Any success I'm having is largely due to all of you and the things I am learning from you. Terry there is no stink that I have detected and I have worked in four varieties of oak. Maybe you are turning one I haven't gotten to as yet. :)
