Jim, that is fantastic. Can't wait to see the extraordinary bowl/whatever you make out of that. Between the blank and your talent, it will be gorgeous.

Come ON Jim. That's got to be the sorriest looking piece of wood I've seen. You've been around this ambrosia stuff too long and I'm afraid are just not seeing things in the right light any more man. The solution would be to send it to me... really... and it will cure you of this bad taste in wood. No one else should help you with this as I am probably the only one who is immune to this disease.

Really.... I mean it..... really

I was going to keep this piece for myself but I have decided to post it up for bid. This one should boost the tool fund up a notch or two.
I also have a monster size blank thats 20" x 8 3/4", a Nice one but its 76 lbs by itself probably close to 80 lbs with the shipping box. Looks like UPS is the only good way to ship one that size and I'm sure the price will be high. might have to keep that one:D

That's a great stain job, Jim. It almost looks natural. ;)

Someday I hope to be worthy of turning a piece of wood that nice.

Same here. I'd be afraid to turn it for fear of lousing it up.

Jim, this is great looking blank. A natural edge bowl would be perfect for this.

Take that large blank and make a hat. Remember this thread... same wood.

Oh, my, is that ever a beautiful blank! It looks like flames are licking up the sides of it. I agree with NE bowl on that one!

Actually turning a NE bowl with ambrosia Maple you loose all the pretty streaks and all you will see is spots on the sides. because the streaks are on the outer edge of the blank next to the bark.
The best orientation for most Ambrosia blanks is bark side for the bottom of the bowl that way the streaks will run across the bottom like this one.
