I'm rebuilding the arbor on my old #68 12" Powermatic TS. The motor drives the arbor with three very short vee belts. These are about 7 or 8" diameter belts.
Since I'm making an order to McMaster-Carr for the bearings, I thought maybe I'd try out the link-type belts while I'm at it.
My question is- do you think that the link belts are appropriate for a drivetrain like this, triple short belts? I don't know if the extreme shortness makes them good or bad candidates for link belts.
If not link type, maybe the belts with the internal rib would be good. As I recall, this saw did not pass the nickel test, so maybe this will help with the vibration, as well as new bearings.
