I'm going to need some help from Jim on identifying this wood that I got from him at Travis's BBQ. It was the block that was about 8" sqr x 12" long. I can't remember what you said it was Jim.

But it sure did turn out pretty. The ends were cracked a way's in so I cut it in half and this is one half of it.

It is 8-1/2" to the top of the finial and 5" to the top of the HF and is about 6-1/4" wide. The finial is curly maple and blood wood.

Thanks for looking.

Very nice, Dick! That is definitely Hackberry, but I don't think we brought it with us. Must be some of Travis' stash...

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. I guess it is agreed that this is hackberry and since it has already started to crack I will have to agree. :(

There are two not so nice cracks one on each side that I hope will close back up some day. Oh well.
