Just a little one 2 1/2" X 1" Finished with wipe-on poly.
Anyone know if there is another name for the white and pink area? While the wood was spalted, I wondered if this area was something else.

Very nice.

How'd you do that blackening on the rim?

Very nice.

How'd you do that blackening on the rim?

Used very fine steel wool. I cranked the RPM to 1800 and added a little pressure with the wool to the edge until it burned as much as I wanted it to.

Very cool, it is 1 inch tall? That dark rim really sets it off! Finish looks great.

Is this bowl really only 1" tall? Incredibly well proportioned for something so tiny, Chris. I think this wood is the result of a graft or something. The abrupt change in grain is something more than spalting. Almost looks like one varietal grafted to another. Looks great!

Nice looking piece Chris! The white and pink area might even be a burl. 'Course, you could just call it "The White and Pink Area".;) :)

Great bowl, Chris! That one looks to me as well as if it is a graft or something similar. The grain patterns are very different.
