Good day

A few days ago I’ve posted my router table.

I mentioned that I’m making dowel holes for frames and carcasses.

I would like to share with you the way I do it.

After setting the stop and spacers on the fence (which is very short procedure), it took me about 4 minutes to drill all the 16 holes for the frame doweling.

Since the day I started to use this method, frames and carcasses became to be a “piece of cake” and I don’t have to worry about accuracy, just short “dry run” and glue.

Regards
niki

I would have used biscuits, saves time and there is no stress so that is all that is required.

Hi Brian

Don’t you feel sorry for an amateur (I would answer; NO!), that have to spend $600 (its Europe here) for a biscuit jointer while with small modification of the router table he can make the joint with dowels.

The one I have cost that much 10 years ago,but you can pick up a cheapo for about a $100 today.NZ.
Keep up the good work though Nissim.;)

Hi Niki,

Thank you for detailed post. I use dowel anytime I want a strong joint; easy to use if you know how.

Nice setup Nissim, and what really makes the system work well, is your foot lift for your router. I like it, simple but effective.;) :)

Thank you all for the kind replies

I made a few doweling jigs but they depends on hand drill and guide bushings that have to be changed for every dowel diameter not to mention the wear and the depth setting of the drill

With this one, I just have to change the bit. The hole dia. and depth are much more accurate, clean and straight.

I think that the “pedal” can be installed also on a “normal” router table with small modification.
