I am getting ready to build a fence/trellis to grow vines on as a privacy fence. Just a very basic structure to support the vines. Nothing worth showing off. It's sole purpose is to support the vines that will screen the backyard from prying eyes since we put in a swimming pool. Fencing is so expensive that I suggested a flowering vine and SWOM actually like my idea. (Thats uncommon)

Since this is the preferred side of the house to drive around to my shop and gain access to the pool I needed to put in two gates. I was looking some ideas for gate and perhaps arbor when I ran across this! It was like love at first site!

This suits our house sooooo well! I am going to have to change the design to suit my application but I love it!! I would probably simplify the details some and leave off the overhead arbor for something a bit simpler, but this is just so perfect. I will need to build two actually. One for a 3' gate and then one for a double gate large enough for a vehicle go through. That means another set of garage sized doors.

Man I love woodworking! :)

Jeff,

That's gorgeous. Very FLW. Will you use cedar. I love working with cedar. It smells great and works easily. Please post pics as you go.:)

My best bet is probably going to be.... <cringes> PT posts and making the detail work from cypress. I still have a fair amount left in the shop from the garage doors. Just don't have a decent suppliers around here for wood.
