Curly Bubinga Box II

Here is another box from that beautiful curly bubinga my wife and son gifted me for Christmas. This little box is 2 1/4" tall and 2 3/8" in diameter. You gotta love the way the curl spirals around this little box.

I turned a little box Friday night. You know what they say about "it's not over 'til the fat lady sings!" Well I was finishing up the bottom when I had a catch with my spindle gouge.....the box became somewhat shorter. I thought I'd made a nice recovery and was buffing it out. I had a catch on the buffer while buffing the top. I'm not sure how many surfaces it hit or what surfaces it hit after it came out of my hand. No recovery on the damage it got! ARGH!

That sure is a lovely box, Big Mike. Form and finish have that Bubinga absolutely glowing, and it shows the curl very nicely.
