It may be of some interest to you and others Synrad was purchased by Coherent in Feb of 2006. What this says to me is that because of overlapping lines (Synrad, Deos, and Coherent) all C02 laser tube mfgs. Something will be fazed out It is not a question of "IF" it is a question of "WHEN".

It is kind of scary that one company controls three C02 laser tube MFG's now.

The first article is when excell technologies purchased Synrad and the second article is when Coherent purchased Excell technologies.

Mike , we have used multiple machines with synrad and coherent sources , the coherent deos sources in the low wattage range have been extremly unreliable compared to the synrad sources. I hope they keep both facilities running as separate bus entities , I would far rather use Synrad sources. My experience with lasers is that both sources tend to some extent be "flaky" in they they dont seem reliable devices at all. With medium to heavy duty cycles of 6 hrs a day , I think one would be lucky to get 2-3 yrs of continued service.??

Rodne,

I agree that the synrad line has been far more reliable than the Deos and especially the Coherent. I don't know what will happen with all of this. We will have to wait and see.
