I am in the market to upgrade my jet mini and on doing some research I really like the pm3520.

I know of a used one for sale can anyone tell me the difference between the 3520a and 3520 b?

The differences are primarily cosmetic. But, most of these differences are nice improvements in design. For instance, the 3520b has an ofset tool rest that is very handy when you are turning larger bowls. With the "b" model running about $2.5K a deal on the "a" could be had but, unless it was at least $500, I would go with a new "b". PS: I own the "a" and it's been a pure pleasure to use.

Hi Mike,
Check your pm's:)

I think another difference is that the b has the digital read out on the front of the machine.

I'm curious, I was told that the 'A' allowed a bed extension and that the 'B' doesn't.

Can someone confirm that?

Of course, it only matters if you want to turn things ten feet long

The manual for the model A shows a bed extention and the pictures I have seen show tapped holes for the extention.

The "A" is drilled and tapped for a bed extension on the bed only. The "B" is drilled and tapped for an extension on both the bed and legs. My "A" model was made near the changeover and has the "B" model legs. There is an 18" extension available which includes a tool rest extension to allow up to (I think) 38" bowls.
