Yup...after months of not turning, I finally got back on the lathe. Unfortunately...it's about the only tool that's operational right now. But, I left it hooked up just for this occasion. This is the Dunno Wood from Jeff Horton. After looking closely, I think it might be sycamore...but that's just a guess. It's 6" in diameter and 3.5" high....sealed with Behlen's Woodturner Finish then Spray Lacquer. It's a holiday so I sprayed with my mask off. (hic) :o :) All in all...a wonderful day.

Cool, this sparks my intrest. I'll start another thread with a few questions.

Edit - I don't even know how to ask a question about it, so I'll try one then ask.

Thanks everyone! You are clearly TOO kind! It was nice getting back in the saddle...even just for a little while.:)

Oh...and also, for this piece, I made my own power sander thingie. My 25 year old B&D drill was laying around..... so I stuck some velcro hook stuff to a piece of fatique mat from the shop floor and then cut some hook-n-loop sand paper to fit to that. Epoxied the whole thing to a piece of an old hand drill disc sanding attachment that I was throwing out anyway. The whole process took about 15 minutes. The fatigue mat stuff worked really good...just the right amount of pressure. Power sanding is great!:)

I have pics in the shop computer....I'll post 'em tonight.
