Well here is a cherry bowl I finished today. Right now it is drying with Watelox on it. It is 7" across and 3 3/4" deep and the walls are 1/8" thick. It cracked pretty bad while drying. So I got the Manhattan Cocktail of epoxy and DNA mixed up. I hit the cracks pretty good. So we will see how it holds up. The wife said don't toss it go finish it and I will use it as a candy dish or whatever. So here it is.

I like it Bernie, it looks great, that crack doesn't take anything away from it at all. The B is back!!

Yup, what Ken said: Finish it! Especially seeing as to how the LOYL already has dibs on it ! :D Personally, I think it adds character to the bowl! :)

Bernie,
That bowl is most definitely a keeper in my book, a beautiful one too!
The crack running across the lines of the grain adds a very natural but unexpected dimension to the piece.
Anyhow, I like it.

I vote to finish it too. Maybe after it's done cracking, warping and all that stuff wood does you could fill the cracks with something pretty like turquoise or something. It's way too nice to throw out.

Thanks for the replies. I did put some Waterlox finish on it and will give it another coat today. As of this morning the epoxy/DNA seems to be holding well. With the walls only 1/8" thick the cocktail went clear through so hopefully will do the trick. I will post more pictures when the finish is dry.
