This is that blank I got from Barry Stratton last month (thanks again, by the way!)...
5"x2", or as Andy puts it, "ice-cream-sized" (at least for people with my waistline):

That's a nice looking bowl, Lee. What kind of wood is that? It looks a bit like walnut to me.

Very nice.:)For all I know, redheart and bloodwood are the same thing, although the figure on the piece of bloodwood I have is not as pronounced. The dust when it's sawn sure looks the same though.:p

Woaahhh... that is nice Lee. That color is beautiful. Does redheart stay red or does it turn brown after awhile. Nice job Lee, it looks great!

WOW, Lee - that came out PERFECT!!!! Well done, sir. Very well done.

Redheart is one of my favorites, cuts easy, polishes easy, seems to stay red, even makes good pens (do you agree Bernie?;) ) Bloodwood on the other hand, scrolls like a rock and burns real easy.... They are different species. I can't find the "site" but I think is it hibdonhardwoods.com that has great info on different wood types.

Wow Lee,
While your finely engineered boxes and laser engravings, given your background, came as no surprise, your robust entrance to the stage of accomplished turners is most definitely worthy of notice and accolades!

Now you, too are starting to scare me!

Nice one Lee! I bought a few blanks recently that are about the same size. I'll have to keep your form in mind when I decide what to do with mine.
