Tinting Sapele

I found some fairly quilted sapele for a mantle project.

Is there a way to pop the grain without enhancing the yellow tone of this wood? I would like to highlight or even darken the red without loosing the depth to the grain. I will spray some Fuhr water based finish to top it.

Pretty much same story, different verse as for the ash, except try a warmer color, such as one of the siennas.
