Here is a little something that I have been working on for a while. I made these when I was doing flat work but I did not think of doing them on the lathe until a couple of weeks ago. All of the parts except the stem for the ball was turned on the lathe. I turned this one out of blue stained Ponderosa Pine end grain. I wanted it to look like it was one continual piece and I was able to get most of the blue stains to line up very well. I hope you all like it. comments welcome!!!! The finish is 50/50 laquear sanding sealer and thinner, then sprayed with high gloss hobby spray.

Very nice! Now spill the beans (or M&Ms, or gumballs) and show us how you put one of those together... :)

Very neat. I have seen the plans for making them in flat work but I really like your spun one better. Great job. Wouldn't my grandkids love one of those?!

Thanks for all of the nice comments. I will be out of town for a few days so I will not be able to get something done today to show how this thing works but I will work on it when I get back and try to get a how to done next week for all of you that want to make one for your grandkids or any other kid that may be around your house. Our 15 year old grand daughter drains ous every time she comes to visit and we love to see her at it. The younger ones do a job on the gum when they come to visit also but we don't see them as often. Have a nice weekend.
